In November, 2021, Seaboard Marine purchased a container vessel, the M/V Seaboard Explorer (“Explorer”), which promptly joined their fleet. Previously named the M/V San Antonio, the Explorer is an 1,841 TEU container ship with three (3) 45-ton revolving cranes.

Built in 2008, the Explorer has a deadweight of 28,197 tons and a length of 186 meters. Although Seaboard Marine has some chartered vessels with higher capacity, as of now, the Explorer is the largest owned vessel in their fleet. However, the “biggest owned ship” title will be short-lived as Marine expects to buy two more used container ships with a size of 2,500 TEUs. Once the container ships are purchased they will be known as the Seaboard Pioneer and the Seaboard Pride.

Dusko Pesic, VP – Operations, noted: “The Explorer is a solid and versatile addition to our fleet. With 462 onboard reefer plugs, it has the capacity to be used in various trade lanes, particularly ones that carry high volumes of perishables.”
