Seaboard Marine commends Food For The Poor (FFTP) on its commitment to international relief in the Caribbean and Latin America. Honored to share in that commitment, Seaboard Marine is a proud sponsor of Food For The Poor’s 18th Annual Building Hope Gala. This year, proceeds of the gala will directly fund the Canaan Heights Development Project in an effort to rebuild an impoverished community (Canaan Heights) in May Pen, Jamaica. The project seeks to bring 65 newly developed double-unit houses, upgrades to the local school and community center, a solar power lighting system, as well as a self-sustaining income generating program.

The recently held event was a great success. Representatives of Seaboard Marine attended the annual gala on February 2nd, 2013 to further support FFTP’s fundraising goal for the evening. Seaboard Marine Senior Vice President Joe Perez-Jones, Director of Sales Armando Varona and Account Executive Alton Gurley graciously accepted a sponsorship plaque and miniature model of the very homes Seaboard Marine’s contributions will help to build.

Established in 1982, FFTP has grown to become one of the largest non-profit organizations based in the United States. Among its many philanthropic devotions Food For The Poor is not only in the business of restoring communities, it also provides emergency relief assistance. Seaboard Marine has partnered with Food For The Poor for nearly three decades by transporting thousands of containers of relief goods throughout the Americas, particularly after natural disasters. Seaboard Marine encourages all its customers, vendors and friends to donate to this truly extraordinary organization.
